Good morning Church!

Welcome back to the house of God and be thankful to God for allowing us to pray and worship Him yet again.
Today again we will continue with our ongoing series as we will call it, “You are chosen for a purpose“.
Last week we studied from 1 Peter 2:9
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
1 Peter 2:9
The word of God says that when we are rejected by world, we are accepted by God. So be comfortable in saying “I am the Child of God, I am the chosen one!”
“For you are a people holy to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession, out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth. It was not because you were more in number than any other people that the Lord set his love on you and chose you, for you were the fewest of all peoples, but it is because the Lord loves you and is keeping the oath that he swore to your fathers, that the Lord has brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the house of slavery, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.
Deuteronomy 7:6‭-‬8
What do you understand when we says, “God has chosen us?” Well, it talks about the special privileges of our life. Even-though, we are losing everything in this world, our position is yet different than others.
We aren’t simply chosen, but God has chosen us for a purpose.
The Greek word used for our purpose literally means “Moral Excellence”. However we arent just talking about moral excellence, but God’s excellence. Its not about outside, but whats happening in our inside, that is the work of God.
1 Peter 2:9 clearly says, “… but you are a chosen generation…”
Based on our interests or circumstances, we make and change our plans. But God’s plan has a purpose which can never be destroyed.
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.
James 1:17
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.
Jeremiah 1:5
This implies that even before Jeremiah was born or even took his first breath on earth, God had a plàn for Jeremiah.
even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love
Ephesians 1:4
Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.
Matthew 25:34
So look at your life and thank God and affirm that you have been created for a purpose. We are a different generation who isn’t running from olaces to place or for our lives
The Bible tells very clearly that Peter was a fisherman and was chosen by God.
“Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men.”
Luke 5:10
After this Jesus revealed himself again to the disciples by the Sea of Tiberias, and he revealed himself in this way. Simon Peter, Thomas (called the Twin), Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples were together. Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” They said to him, “We will go with you.” They went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.
John 21:1‭-‬3
Peter plammed to go back and continue his own job, but God had a plan for Peter. Just like everyone of us, Peter was tempted for the previous times of his life.
When they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Feed my lambs.” He said to him a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord; you know that I love you.” He said to him, “Tend my sheep.” He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter was grieved because he said to him the third time, “Do you love me?” and he said to him, “Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you.” Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep.
John 21:15‭-‬17
Peter denied three times but now it has reversed. Peter affirmed his love for Christ three times.
Remember when God calls you, there is a purpose for His call. Do not go back to your old ways. Peter understood God’s planning and God blessed Peter immensely.
There are so many examples…
Look at Abraham
By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. By faith he went to live in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, heirs with him of the same promise. For he was looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose designer and builder is God.
Hebrews 11:8‭-‬10
Look at Moses
Pharaoh planned to kill Moses but God protected him.
By faith Moses, when he was grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, choosing rather to be mistreated with the people of God than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. He considered the reproach of Christ greater wealth than the treasures of Egypt, for he was looking to the reward. By faith he left Egypt, not being afraid of the anger of the king, for he endured as seeing him who is invisible.
Hebrews 11:24‭-‬27
Now, therefore, thus shall you say to my servant David, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, I took you from the pasture, from following the sheep, to be prince over my people Israel,
1 Chronicles 17:7
Think about Daniel, Joseph etc. They were captivated but God had a plan for them. We can go on and on to give you examples…
But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen instrument of mine to carry my name before the Gentiles and kings and the children of Israel.’
Acts 9:15
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love
Ephesians 1:3‭-‬4
You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.
John 15:16
Dear people of God, God has chosen you and He has a plan and a purpose for you. Inspite of that, you will face difficult circumstances and trials in your lives. If we read the word of God, the disciples went through the worst of the situations. Nevertheless, they did what God wanted to do with their lives. When you go through all these trials, God is taking you through a process. God doesnt wants to crush your, He wants to use it just to refine you, mould you, transform you and make you.
On the way you may face trials and difficulties, but He is there for you. But understand, sometimes we are bringing these circumstamces to ourselves by comparing our lives with others.
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Jeremiah 29:11
When Nebuchadnezzar took Jews into his captivity, their situation was very bad. But God told them to build their houses over there, get married and have children. Remember, in every circumstances, God has a plan.
Moses understood this about these people…
Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us, and for as many years as we have seen evil.
Psalm 90:15
I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living! Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!
Psalm 27:13‭-‬14
We are the chosen one by the Lord but we need to wait unto the Lord. God has a plan for you – He will fulfil it and you must trust Him and wait unto Him.
Dear Church, we hope you are encouraged with today’s word. Thank you for joining us. We look forward to see you agin next Sunday. God bless!
