Good Morning Church!
We welcome you all back to the house of the one and only living God, our Lord, Jesus Christ. God is good all the times and all the times God is good!
Today we will be learning about a very important subject and we call it, “You Are Chosen!“
We will begin with the word of God…
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
1 Peter 2:9
The society we live always value in life and believe in certain criteria such as wealth, income, class etc. So many studies are done that people develop some kind of thinking that they start looking other people in a certain way and compare with them. We don’t look at ourselves but others to be accepted in the society. And our actions are influenced by it. Many people say that this is the trend right now, this is the clothe trending now a days, this is the hairstyle that is acceptable with the present times etc.
While I was young, we used to play cricket. While team selection, if our name was taken, we used to be happy to get accepted. But that’s the pressure of getting accepted. However, 1 Peter 2:9 says that “…you are a chosen generation…”
To be without this mercy is a woeful state, though a man have all worldly enjoyments. And there is nothing that so kindly works repentance, as right thoughts of the mercy and love of God. Let us not dare to abuse and affront the free grace of God, if we mean to be saved by it; but let all who would be found among those who obtain mercy, walk as his people.
Peter is encouraging them and commending them (the other people) for their sacrifices. He (Peter) is telling that Jesus is the cornerstone and that people who reject Him will fall, because Jesus is going to be a stumbling stone for them.
For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit.
1 Peter 3:18
“Chosen” means preferred or that you are special. Peter says that when we have given our heart to Jesus, we beling to a chosen race.
My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.
Psalm 139:15-16
You are chosen one by God and you should remind of this to yourself every single day.
You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.
John 15:16
“For you are a people holy to the Lord your God. The Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession, out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth. It was not because you were more in number than any other people that the Lord set his love on you and chose you, for you were the fewest of all peoples, but it is because the Lord loves you and is keeping the oath that he swore to your fathers, that the Lord has brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the house of slavery, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.
Deuteronomy 7:6-8
When we are young many times due to the pressure if society, we tend to think loosely of our life, but be informed, that God has handpicked us and chose us for a reason. You should know your identity in Christ Jesus. People identify themselves influenced with others, which is not right in the sight of God because you are a child of God.
Again a reminder: “You are a chosen race…!” (1 Peter 2:9)
Maybe one day you feel that you are useless, nobody cares about you, nobody thinks you are special etc. However, the word of God says that you are a chosen one and a child of God. You are God’s choice. God chose Gideon, Samson, Elijah, Abraham, Daniel… many examples are in the new Testament, Stephen, Mary, Martha etc. why not you ask?
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love
Ephesians 1:3-4
You need not to see the influencers, but what God is talking with you. Are you seeing yourself how God is seeing you? Don’t be influenced by the world’s standards. See what God’s standard is for you. Do not compare yourself with others and do not be influenced. Do what is right, do what God has planned for you and you should know this.
What God says about you?
For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God.
1 Corinthians 1:26-29
You are chosen by God and He has a purpose in your life. And if you think God doesn’t loves you, be reminded that God loves loves sinners.
Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who are elect exiles of the Dispersion in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia.
1 Peter 1:1
As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious.
1 Peter 2:4
You are chosen by God! Doesn’t matter what language we speak or which nation we belong to or how do we look. The important question is, “Who am I?” What is our identity? Well a simple response is God’s desiring and willingness to choose you. There are so many people who aren’t willing to understand this.
Seek first the kingdom of God and all things will follow. And always remember, you are precious in the sight of God. He is the author of your life and you are not in this earth by accident. God chose you! And hoe much He loves you? Well, He gave His life for us, that much He loves us!
Maybe you are feeling rejected, maybe you aren’t happy with the way things are moving in your life, but understand this, He is in control and God loves you, “The Chosen One!“
Ask God today, irrespective of your shortcomings or the pressure of society, to help you in your ways and to inspire you every day.
We hope you are encouraged with today’s word, that God, the greatest influencer ever known to mankind, has given to us. We look forward to see you all again next Sunday. God bless!
