Good Morning Church!
We welcome each one of you, back to the house of God. Today is a beautiful day that God has made.
As you know that we are in a season of prayer for revival, we will continue to study from the ongoing series from Nehemiah.
Now on the twenty-fourth day of this month the people of Israel were assembled with fasting and in sackcloth, and with earth on their heads.
Nehemiah 9:1
And the Israelites separated themselves from all foreigners and stood and confessed their sins and the iniquities of their fathers.
Nehemiah 9:2
When Holy Spirit convicts us, it tells us for certain things that are not right. People want to hear only good things and praises; however a true friend will always tell you the truth, which may be not pleasant all the times.
In chapter 10, there is a progression. When God speaks about correcting us, we respond.
We will not give our daughters to the peoples of the land or take their daughters for our sons.
Nehemiah 10:30
The aforementioned verse is the first commitment to the family.
For the people of Israel and the sons of Levi shall bring the contribution of grain, wine, and oil to the chambers, where the vessels of the sanctuary are, as well as the priests who minister, and the gatekeepers and the singers. We will not neglect the house of our God.”
Nehemiah 10:39
This is the second commitment made for the house of God.
Families are very important. We are not together as a family by accident, but God has put us all together.
And if the peoples of the land bring in goods or any grain on the Sabbath day to sell, we will not buy from them on the Sabbath or on a holy day. And we will forego the crops of the seventh year and the exaction of every debt.
Nehemiah 10:31
Lord has ordained us to come together and celebrate God. In the last days, many will stay away from the fellowship, and this is a sign God foretold through His word.
A committed heart will have two convictions:
– We will come to the house of God.
– We will give to the house of God.
Let us look at the few examples of obedient families and the work of God in their lives:
1: Adam’s family:
A strong family will make a strong society and a weak family will make a weak society. We are so busy today and enemy has kept us occupied with various tools.
Someone said that for a new start-up, one must work for at least 18 hours. Another said unless you will not sleep 8 hours a day, you will become self-centred. God has made night to sleep and day to work.
God made man and woman in His own image and He said to Adam and Eve, “Be fruitful and multiply!”
Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
Genesis 1:26-28
Revival doesn’t come just like that. We need to read word of God more and more and there has to be an order at home. We need to build our children in God’s way.
You need to train your children the Godly way. If you do not train them, then the world will train them.
2: The family of Noah.
But I will establish my covenant with you, and you shall come into the ark, you, your sons, your wife, and your sons’ wives with you.
Genesis 6:18
Amongst the wicked people if the world, God noticed one family, who was obedient to God. There was so much wickedness in the world, that God wanted to destroy the world. And when the world was dying, drowning in the water, Noah and his family was safe.
In this evil generation, when world is drowning, you will float.
God want to build all families and protect them. There was wickedness all around, so was righteousness. However, in order to have the latter one, we need to protect our families by building them in a Godly manner. We are called by God to build an ark for our children. If God wants to make a family do well, satan want it to become a battleground. In this ungodly world, like Noah did, we need to build an ark for our family.
3: Family of Moses.
By faith Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw that the child was beautiful, and they were not afraid of the king’s edict.
Hebrews 11:23
Moses’ mother made a basket and put her child in that basket and released it on a river. Possibilities are that child would have cried and soldiers may have found out and killed the child. However, the child was found by Pharaoh’s wife. And God made such an easy way for Moses’ mother, that she got to serve Pharaoh’s wife and take care of her own child.
God is very serious about the families, but are you serious enough? Or would you want to allow the enemy to make your family a battleground. In order to make a good family, you must develop a character. And the greatest book for that desired character development is the Bible.
Be encouraged in the name of Jesus to start rebuilding your families if you feel that satan has started to make your family a battlefield. And in order to do this, seek the presence of God and ask you to be filled by His Holy Spirit.
Church, we thank you all for joining us today. We look forward to see you all again next Sunday. God bless!
