Good Morning Church!
We welcome you all in the name of Christ, our savior amd redeemer. His name is the reason we all are gathered today.
When we talk about Christ Christmas season, the purpose is to give hope to the people who live in the darkness. It talks about us that God has not abandoned us.
If Christmas is about clothes, then what about pwople who have no clothes? If Christmas is about families, what about orphans? If Christmas is about snow, what about people in Mumbai?
Christmas is not about things of this world but about “Jesus.”
There are reasons that Jesus came to us:
1: To show us who truly God is.
Many people have misconceptions about God. Few say He is love and few think He is angry. Few offer Him gifts so that His anger cools down. However the word of God say, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
The God of Bible we speak of, His name is “Jesus Christ!“
No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father’s side, he has made him known.
John 1:18
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:1
I speak of what I have seen with my Father, and you do what you have heard from your father.”
John 8:38
But you have not known him. I know him. If I were to say that I do not know him, I would be a liar like you, but I do know him and I keep his word.
John 8:55
Who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped,
Philippians 2:6
Jesus is God with us in human form!
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.
Colossians 1:15
I and the Father are one.
John 10:30
2: Jesus came to express the love of God.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16
We are here in the presence of God because God showed love to us. Bible talks about unconditional love. He loved us not because who we are, but because who He is.
So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.
1 John 4:16
O righteous Father, even though the world does not know you, I know you, and these know that you have sent me. I made known to them your name, and I will continue to make it known, that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.
John 17:25-26
Jesus came to show us the love of God. Have you experience someone’s love? I saw many people who claim they are in love. But people, understand this, there is no love compared to the love of Christ.
In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
1 John 4:10
Illustration: Martin luther once said, “The mystery of the humanity of Christ, that he sunk himself into our flesh, is beyond all human understanding.“
3: To mend relationship with God.
When God created man, God blessed him and wanted to have a relationship with him. However, sin entered into this world and man fell short of God’s glory.
That is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.
2 Corinthians 5:19
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
John 14:6
Reconciliation is a restoration of friendship and establishing peace between two parties. Reconciliation: because there is a difference and separation. Now what separates us with God? It is “Sin”! So Jesus came on earth, 100% man and 100% God at the same time, to die for our sins and to reconcile our relationship with God.
For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.
Romans 5:10
The birth of Christ is a good news! However, do you have a relationship with Jesus or the religion? You need to ask this question to yourself.
What is the payment of our sins? There is no money that can remove our sins. There is no wealth or riches than can even remove our simplest of the sins. The only way is Jesus!
And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him.
Colossians 1:21-22
But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,
John 1:12
So friends, do you need Christmas presents or Christ’s presence? You feel no one loves you or feels no one really cares for you? People ill treat you and misbehave with you? Be informed today, Jesus is the answer for the true definition of pure love and forgiveness.
If you are celebrating Christmas for this special date, i.e. 25th December, to be the reason of the season, stop right now. The only and I mean only reason for this season is Jesus.
People of God, today is the day to mend your relationship with God and get connected with Him. Thank God for Him coming to this world as a man and for forgiveness that we all have received without efforts. All we need to do is believe that Christ is the son of God, our savior, redeemer and God Himself.
There is no better way to sum this all up other than this beautiful Christmas Carol by Isaac Watts…
Joy to the world! the Lord is come;
Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare him room,
And heaven and nature sing,
And heaven and nature sing,
And heaven, and heaven, and nature sing.
Joy to the world! the Saviour reigns;
Let men their songs employ;
While fields and floods, rocks, hills, and plains
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat the sounding joy,
Repeat, repeat the sounding joy.
No more let sins and sorrows grow,
Nor thorns infest the ground;
He comes to make His blessings flow
Far as the curse is found,
Far as the curse is found,
Far as, far as, the curse is found.
He rules the world with truth and grace,
And makes the nations prove
The glories of His righteousness,
And wonders of His love,
And wonders of His love,
And wonders, wonders, of His love.
We hope you are glad to hear today’s word. We look forward to see you at Sunday service. Until then, God bless and Merry Christmas to you all!
