Good Morning Church!
We welcome you all back to the house of one and the only living God. Praise God because He is good!
It is important to communicate with God, however more important is to hear the voice of God.
Last week we spoke about a small voice, today we will continue with the same series, “Holy Spirit Speaks!” (Part 2)
The Lord said to Samuel, “How long will you grieve over Saul, since I have rejected him from being king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil, and go. I will send you to Jesse the Bethlehemite, for I have provided for myself a king among his sons.” And Samuel said, “How can I go? If Saul hears it, he will kill me.” And the Lord said, “Take a heifer with you and say, ‘I have come to sacrifice to the Lord.’
1 Samuel 16:1-2
And the Lord said to him, “Go, return on your way to the wilderness of Damascus. And when you arrive, you shall anoint Hazael to be king over Syria.
1 Kings 19:15
Now there was a disciple at Damascus named Ananias. The Lord said to him in a vision, “Ananias.” And he said, “Here I am, Lord.” And the Lord said to him, “Rise and go to the street called Straight, and at the house of Judas look for a man of Tarsus named Saul, for behold, he is praying, and he has seen in a vision a man named Ananias come in and lay his hands on him so that he might regain his sight.” But Ananias answered, “Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much evil he has done to your saints at Jerusalem. And here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on your name.” But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen instrument of mine to carry my name before the Gentiles and kings and the children of Israel. For I will show him how much he must suffer for the sake of my name.” So Ananias departed and entered the house. And laying his hands on him he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus who appeared to you on the road by which you came has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.” And immediately something like scales fell from his eyes, and he regained his sight. Then he rose and was baptized; and taking food, he was strengthened. For some days he was with the disciples at Damascus.
Acts 9:10-19
Have you been thinking all along that we have been defending ourselves to you? It is in the sight of God that we have been speaking in Christ, and all for your upbuilding, beloved.
2 Corinthians 12:19
God Speaks!
Throughout the Old Testament and New Testament, there are more than 2000 instances where God spoke.
In Genesis, God spoke and it came into existence. There are many
1: The testimony of Spirit to God is to speak with our spirit; whisper in our spirit.
2: God speaks to us through the word of God.
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
2 Timothy 3:16
We must have a longing to speak with Gid. Do you have longing to speak with God? If you are desirous, He is willing to speak.
When we study theology, the theologians put across this way….
1: General revelation.
It talks about whole creation, i e. if there is a design, there is a designer. Someone is controlling. This is called General revelation.
The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.
Psalm 19:1-2
2: Special revelation.
The special revelation is the ‘Bible’. It is not the thoughts if people, a fairy tale, a story book. It is considered that Holy Spirit inspired the author to write down.
If you have a desire to listen to God, so the first way is to read from the word of God, i.e. Bible.
Bible says that the word of God is inspired and infallible. From Genesis to Revelation, the though and message is the same.
For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
2 Peter 1:21
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
2 Timothy 3:16
That is the word of God. Do you want to hear from the Holy Spirit? Then come to God and you will notice that God speaks through His word. Bible is full of promises and assurances. If you wonder, how you will get the answer, then trust that the word of God has it all.
Bible shows the character of God. You want to know about God’s character? Then read the word of God. The word of God says, “It was HE, who loved us first!”
Holy Spirit is ready to speak but are you ready to listen a small voice? When you read the word of God, Holy Spirit will remind you throughout the day and will lead you.
You have to be active in hearing the voice of God. If you are not active, you may never hear what God has to say.
Peter wept when he was reminded about Jesus’ denial. The word of God throughout the day, it will keep on reminding you of the things that you have meditated upon.
When are people who read the Bible during bad times and then there are the ones who read during the good times. People of God, honour the word of God. Good times or bad times, you have to read the word of God every day. People nowadays are more interested in attend prophets and star preachers, but remember, they can never replace the word of God.
Many times, we come to God but we do not hear anything. Open the Bible and God will speak with you.
Charles Spurgeon once said, “Avoid a sugar-coated gospel as you would shun sugar of lead. Seek that gospel which rips up and tears and cuts and wounds and hacks and even kills, for that is the gospel that makes alive again. And when you have found it, give good heed to it. Let it enter into your inmost being. As the rain soaks into the ground, so pray the Lord to let his gospel soak into your soul.”
We must meditate on the word of God. However, there are two kinds of meditations. One is the worldly one, which suggests you to empty your mind and there are no benefits to it whatsoever. On the other hand, there is Biblical meditation which tells you to fill your mind with the word of God.
And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.
Isaiah 30:21
Hear the voice of God, for He is ready. And when you will listen to the voice of God, you will be comforted. Make a commitment to establish a new relationship with God, through His word.
Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me.
Revelation 3:20
We thank you all for joining. We look forward to see you all again next week. God Bless!
