Good Morning Church!
Welcome to the house of living God. Where two or more people are gathered in His name, He is present. This is what bible teaches us and and it is God who has enabled us gather togather to hear the word of God.
Last Sunday we learned how “Distraction is enemy’s tool.” With this, we can lose the path God has laid for us. We will continue with this Part-2 of the same series.
We need to understand two important things about the purpose why were are created.
A: We were made to worship God.
I will say to the north, Give up, and to the south, Do not withhold; bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the end of the earth, everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.
Isaiah 43:6-7
“Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.”
Revelation 4:11
We must worship Him and glorify His name!
B: We were made for a mission.
We are to share the word of God to every individual. When a person accepts Jesus as the Lord and saviour, we will proclaim love of God to people and bring glory to God’s name.
Jesus answered, “The most important is, ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
Mark 12:29-31
There are several ways enemy tries to distract us We will understand today about how enemy tries to distract us?
1: Enemy tries to distract us from truly loving God to loving money.
Judas betrayed Jesus! He made a covenant with Jewish authoritues for 30 pieces of silver. Once authorities arrested Jesus Judas felt that it was a waste of money what he though would bring prosperity for him. He ended up hanging. Even during his end, he was thinking about the money.
Disheartened by the saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.
Mark 10:22
Another story of a young man refused to give up on his wealth to follow Jesus because of greed and kove for money instead of love for God.
Church understand this, never make money your God!
2: Enemy tries to distract us from truly loving God to love our family more.
We are responsible to love and care for our family. However, understand that it is God who should be on your priority.
Sometimes even if you notice our own family members compell us to give them priority over listening to God. This is one if a major distraction!
3: Enemy tries to distract us from truly loving God to loving this world.
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.
1 John 2:15-17
For Demas, in love with this present world, has deserted me and gone to Thessalonica. Crescens has gone to Galatia, Titus to Dalmatia.
2 Timothy 4:10
Demus was called as a fellow worker of Paul. In the verse above, we say “Deserted” is mentioned.
As per Matthey Henry’s commentary, the love of this world, is often the cause of turning back from the truths and ways of Jesus Christ. Paul was guided by Divine inspiration, yet he would have his books. As long as we live, we must still learn. The apostles did not neglect human means, in seeking the necessaries of life, or their own instruction. Let us thank the Divine goodness in having given us so many writings of wise and pious men in all ages; and let us seek that by reading them our profiting may appear to all.
Things in this life we have might be less, but the love of God.
There are two kinds of priorities in our life:
a: Our longing towards getting the things of the world.
b: We can involve ourselves to safegaurd our souls from the things of this world.
4: Enemy tries to distract us from truly loving God to loving your work.
Success, business, growth and blessings come from God. We understand that you are busy but remember you have to be on your safeguard.
Now as they went on their way, Jesus entered a village. And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to his teaching. But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.” But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”
Luke 10:38-42
Dear peoole of God, do not be caught up in the busyness of your work. This is distraction and a look if enemy. This doesn’t means you shouldn’t give priority towards work, but this means hoboring God eith your time and adhering to your responsibilities.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,
Hebrews 12:1
So what is the remedy?
This life is a brief. It appears and fades away however we have internal existance. When you decide that you want to live with Jesus for eternity then your love for this world means nothing. You need to kive an internal perspective.
There is a calling for you which is the purpose of your life. And your purpose is to love your God, with all your heart, mind and soul.
And when all our enemies heard of it, all the nations around us were afraid and fell greatly in their own esteem, for they perceived that this work had been accomplished with the help of our God.
Nehemiah 6:16
If you feel you are getting distracted, focus on the four points we have learned today and ask God to help you with His Spirit to fight this enemy’s tool. Your destiny is important. The purpose of God is important in your life. Let nothing distract you.
We hope today you will change your perspective towards things which keeps you busy and away God. Be encouraged and luuk unto the Lord. We look forward to see uou again next Sunday. God bless!
