We gather together to praise and worship God and we are glad that we are back again to the house of the Lord.

Illustration: While thousands are dying without Jesus everyday, church is busy in praying for the headache and backache. We need to know and be thankful to God in understanding the mission of the Church, which is not limited to the Church members.

What can we do to praticipate in the mission of the Church?

1: Pray.
You and I responsible to God for bringing the souls to Jesus. Pray for people, pray for Church and pray for every situations.

2: Reach out.
Sitting at office cubcle doesnt limit you to sitting alone what you need tobdo to reachout. Remember, God has placed you in this place.

3: Contribute.
When you contribute with your heart, God honors your giving. This can immensly help the church in planning several outreach programs. Give faithfully.

Today I want to talk about our attitude, how it should be when God tells you to wait.

"I waited patiently for the Lord ; he inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many will see and fear, and put their trust in the Lord." - Psalms 40:1‭-‬3

Doubts and fears about the eternal state, are a horrible pit and miry clay, and have been so to many a dear child of God. There is power enough in God to help the weakest, and grace enough to help the unworthiest of all that trust in him. The psalmist waited patiently; he continued believing, hoping, and praying. This is applicable to Christ. His agony, in the garden and on the cross, was a horrible pit and miry clay. But those that wait patiently for God do not wait in vain. Those that have been under religious melancholy, and by the grace of God have been relieved; they are brought up out of a horrible pit. Christ is the Rock on which a poor soul can alone stand fast. Where God has given stedfast hope, he expects there should be a steady, regular walk and conduct. God filled the psalmist with joy, as well as peace in believing. Multitudes, by faith beholding the sufferings and glory of Christ, have learned to fear the justice and trust in the mercy of God through Him. Many are the benefits with which we are daily loaded, both by the providence and by the grace of God.

Waiting is one if the most toughest task. In this generation, it is very tough to wait patiently, irrespective of it is a wait for public convenience, restaurant etc. Even when we are waiting for certain things, we are inpatient with God also. Patience is a virtue.

Few definitions of patience are:

- It is the ability to accept delay and disappointment graciously.

- To remain stedfast under strain.

- It is strength and certain knowledge about God that He is in control.

Illustration: Many people were sailing in a ship, suddenly caught in a storm. Due the the nature of rough seas people started screaming, but a small boy. When scared people asked him, he responded that he is not fearful or scare because my father is the Captain.

Imagine when God is in control, you will not get frustrated, anger or any act of negativity.

Few good exaples if waiting on God are:

- Abraham waited patiently and God gave him a son eventhough it seemed impossible to many people.

- David waited and annointed him to be king after a long wait which included troubles and suffering.

- Moses moved from Egyptians to a new land. Moses had to wait 40 years for that.

- Joseph was sentenced into prison after being thrown into a pit and being sold under slavery. He waited for the Lord patiently.

- Jesus waited until Lazarus died. Not only he was dead, but 3-4 days ahead of Lazarus' death.

These should be perfect examples for us. Think about their attitude when time seems to be running out. Imagine 40 years, 15-16 hears, yet theze people waited patiently.

Your prayers are not falling on deaf years. God is working on you and remember people of God that God is never late, He gives only at the right time.

"After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: "Fear not, Abram, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great." But Abram said, "O Lord God , what will you give me, for I continue childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?" And Abram said, "Behold, you have given me no offspring, and a member of my household will be my heir." And behold, the word of the Lord came to him: "This man shall not be your heir; your very own son shall be your heir." And he brought him outside and said, "Look toward heaven, and number the stars, if you are able to number them." Then he said to him, "So shall your offspring be." And he believed the Lord , and he counted it to him as righteousness. And he said to him, "I am the Lord who brought you out from Ur of the Chaldeans to give you this land to possess."- Genesis 15:1‭-‬7

God assured Abram of safety and happiness; that he should for ever be safe. I am thy shield; or, I am a shield to thee, present with thee, actually caring for thee. The consideration that God himself is, and will be a shield to his people, to secure them from all evils, a shield ready to them, and a shield round about them, should silence all perplexing, tormenting fears. All God wanted that Abraham should wait patiently.

Sarah failed to wait o the God. When you stop waiting unto the Lord, you loose on the blessings.

Throughout the book of Job, Job waited patiently for God and God spoke to him and gave him all what Job asked for.

When you wait unto God, God will hear. Psalmist says that "He has give a new song to me...". People will see what God has done for him.

Don't allow your waiting period to demoralize you. Have a mind of Christ and wait unto God patiently.

God is not playing with your emotions or your life. He is working on you.

"Wait for the Lord ; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!" - Psalms 27:14

Wherever the believer is, he can find a way to the throne of grace by prayer. God calls us by his Spirit, by his word, by his worship, and by special providences, merciful and afflicting. When we are foolishly making court to lying vanities, God is, in love to us, calling us to seek our own mercies in him. The call is general, Seek ye my face; but we must apply it to ourselves, I will seek it. The word does us no good, when we do not ourselves accept the exhortation: a gracious heart readily answers to the call of a gracious God, being made willing in the day of his power. The psalmist requests the favour of the Lord; the continuance of his presence with him; the benefit of Divine guidance, and the benefit of Divine protection. God's time to help those that trust in him, is, when all other helpers fail. He is a surer and better Friend than earthly parents are, or can be. What was the belief which supported the psalmist? That he should see the goodness of the Lord. There is nothing like the believing hope of eternal life, the foresights of that glory, and foretastes of those pleasures, to keep us from fainting under all calamities. In the mean time he should be strengthened to bear up under his burdens. Let us look unto the suffering Saviour, and pray in faith, not to be delivered into the hands of our enemies. Let us encourage each other to wait on the Lord, with patient expectation, and fervent prayer.

Illustration: A group of atheists in a US court spoke about holidays since it is given to all religious groups. The verdict cameout as first of April to be the holidays. The judge explained, it is a April fools day and that no God's day is a fools day.

Keep praying for the restoration or breakthrough in any situation. Don't question to God, just wait unto Him. Our God is a loving God and He will answer.

We hope you will take this message with you and think about it carefully and pray to the loving Lord and seek right attitude during your wait. Be encouraged and share this with your friends and encourage them as well. We look forward seeing you next Sunday. God bless!
