In life you may face many situations. You may be persecuted, You may be left behind, you may get into trouble and much more. In the OT in the life of Daniel, he has faced similar situations but he relied on God.
“And in the second year of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar Nebuchadnezzar dreamed dreams, wherewith his spirit was troubled, and his sleep brake from him. Then the king commanded to call the magicians, and the astrologers, and the sorcerers, and the Chaldeans, for to shew the king his dreams. So they came and stood before the king. And the king said unto them, I have dreamed a dream, and my spirit was troubled to know the dream. Then spake the Chaldeans to the king in Syriack, O king, live for ever: tell thy servants the dream, and we will shew the interpretation. The king answered and said to the Chaldeans, The thing is gone from me: if ye will not make known unto me the dream, with the interpretation thereof, ye shall be cut in pieces, and your houses shall be made a dunghill. But if ye shew the dream, and the interpretation thereof, ye shall receive of me gifts and rewards and great honour: therefore shew me the dream, and the interpretation thereof. They answered again and said, Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will shew the interpretation of it. The king answered and said, I know of certainty that ye would gain the time, because ye see the thing is gone from me. But if ye will not make known unto me the dream, there is but one decree for you: for ye have prepared lying and corrupt words to speak before me, till the time be changed: therefore tell me the dream, and I shall know that ye can shew me the interpretation thereof. The Chaldeans answered before the king, and said, There is not a man upon the earth that can shew the king's matter: therefore there is no king, lord, nor ruler, that asked such things at any magician, or astrologer, or Chaldean. And it is a rare thing that the king requireth, and there is none other that can shew it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.” - Daniel 2:1-11
“For this cause the king was angry and very furious, and commanded to destroy all the wise men of Babylon. And the decree went forth that the wise men should be slain; and they sought Daniel and his fellows to be slain.” -Daniel 2:12-13
The greatest men are most open to cares and troubles of mind, which disturb their repose in the night, while the sleep of the labouring man is sweet and sound. We know not the uneasiness of many who live in great pomp, and, as others vainly think, in pleasure also. The king said that his learned men must tell him the dream itself, or they should all be put to death as deceivers. Men are more eager to ask as to future events, than to learn the way of salvation or the path of duty; yet foreknowledge of future events increases anxiety and trouble. Those who deceived, by pretending to do what they could not do, were sentenced to death, for not being able to do what they did not pretend to.
“Then Daniel answered with counsel and wisdom to Arioch the captain of the king's guard, which was gone forth to slay the wise men of Babylon: He answered and said to Arioch the king's captain, Why is the decree so hasty from the king? Then Arioch made the thing known to Daniel. Then Daniel went in, and desired of the king that he would give him time, and that he would shew the king the interpretation.” -Daniel 2:14-16
When you face a situation where you don't know what to do, exactly Daniel like situation, it is not for your destruction. It is for your construction. Everything happens on our lives, is with God's purpose. In this situation Daniel prayed with his friends.
Can you dream the same dream of another person? Can a father dream what son dreams? Can a wife dream the same dreams her husband dreams? Daniel received the same dream like the king. Only things which are impossible, are possible with God. Daniel and his friends prayed together.
“Then Daniel went to his house, and made the thing known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions: That they would desire mercies of the God of heaven concerning this secret; that Daniel and his fellows should not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon. Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven. Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his:”-Daniel 2:17-20
Daniel humbly prayed that God would discover to him the king's dream, and the meaning of it. Praying friends are valuable friends; and it well becomes the greatest and best men to desire the prayers of others. Let us show that we value our friends, and their prayers. They were particular in prayer. And whatever we pray for, we can expect nothing but as the gift of God's mercies. God gives us leave in prayer to tell our wants and burdens. Their plea with God was, the peril they were in. The mercy Daniel and his fellows prayed for, was bestowed. The fervent prayers of righteous men avail much. Daniel was thankful to God for making known that to him, which saved the lives of himself and his fellows. How much more should we be thankful to God, for making known the great salvation of the soul to those who are not among the worldly wise and prudent!
God has given you words. God has written you love letters. You must read them and confess. Praying and communicating with God is so important.
In the book of Acts we will see the most important thing is praying. In the garden of Gathsemene, Jesus prayed.
We must pray when we have so many things happening in the world. It's not a time to play, but to sincerely pray.
When you pray and ask God, He will put words in your mouth. For the listeners you will not be a boring person. God has capabilities to do things which we cannot even imagine. When you pray God acts. When people will pray together God will work and manifest.
“And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting." -Acts 2:1-2
If we notice in the verses above, we will notice the words to be stressed.
The same mind
“And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is: Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things? The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ. For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together, For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done. And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word, By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus. And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness. And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul: neither said any of them that ought of the things which he possessed was his own; but they had all things common.” -Acts 4:24-32
“Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” - Matthew 18:19-20
Corporate Praying can be best explained with a Greek word, "Symphoneo".
To be harmonious, agree.
When you pray for your pastor together, there is absolutely anointing. When we say corporate prayers, it certainly is like an orchestra communicating with God.
“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.” -Psalms 133:1-3
How many of you want to see the anointing of God? How many of you see power of God? Otherwise we will be tired of the church.
Illustration: In “The Power of Prayer" by J. Edgar Hoover, he said, “The spectacle of a nation praying is more awe-inspiring than the explosion of an atomic bomb. The force of prayer is greater than any possible combination of man-made or man-controlled powers, because prayer is man’s greatest means of tapping the infinite resources of God. Invoking by prayer the mercy and might of God is our most effective means of guaranteeing peace and security for the harassed and helpless peoples of the earth.”
We need prayers. We must first seek the kingdom of God, rest everything will follow.
God will provide you with all riches of the heaven because our our God is a good and He loves us. We must come to God and say, "I want to come to you!" Trust me, God will respond. And if we all do this together, there will be a revival.
At times we feel sleepy at the church service of 2 hours. At the same time we are wide awake while watching a 3 hour long movie. The cunning satan always want to keep you off God and His belongings.
Revival is always the God's loving kindness. Spirit of God mightily moves and revives.
“And it shall come to pass, if ye diligently hearken unto me, saith the Lord, to bring in no burden through the gates of this city on the sabbath day, but hallow the sabbath day, to do no work therein;” -Jeremiah 17:24
“All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.” -Isaiah 53:6
“O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?” -Romans 7:24
“Consider how I love thy precepts: quicken me, O Lord, according to thy lovingkindness.” -Psalms 119:159
Illustration: E.M. Bounds, in 'Power through Prayer' wrote.... "What the Church needs to-day is not more machinery or better, not new organizations or more and novel methods, but men whom the Holy Ghost can use -- men of prayer, men mighty in prayer. The Holy Ghost does not flow through methods, but through men. He does not come on machinery, but on men. He does not anoint plans, but men -- men of prayer."
Illustration: When internet is not working we keep on calling the Internet service provider. What about our disconnection with God?
There is no other way to be connected with God, but by Corporate prayers. When you say, "I want to pray, God will help you in praying." Let us all get involved in the Corporate prayer and destroy all the palms of satan. Let us all pray so that Spirit of God move mightily and break all the curses. Let us all pray together so the spirit of God moves us and that we be the blessing to others also in the name of Jesus Christ.
